Antone Abreau, husband of Eleanor (Correia) Abreau, died on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Taunton Nursing Home.
He was 86.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late George and Candida (Mendes) Abreau.
Educated in Taunton schools, he later served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
A co-owner/operator of Abreau Oil Service, Inc. for many years, he retired at the age of 70.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, he was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the Knights of Columbus, the St. Peter’s Society, the Portuguese American Civic Club and the B.P.O. Elks, Lodge 150.
He enjoyed sports and playing cards and was an avid Bruins fan.
Besides his wife, he leaves 2 sons, Anthony Abreau and his wife Sheila of Taunton, and Joseph Abreau and his wife Kristin of Berkley; 2 daughters, Jean M. Costa and her husband Scott, and Paula Sylvia and her husband Michael, all of Taunton; 2 brothers, John Abreau and his wife Hazel, and George Abreau and his wife Evelyn, all of Taunton; a sister, Mary Abreau of Taunton; 10 grandchildren, Tyler, Paige, and Joseph D. Abreau, Anthony Abreau, Jr., Jessica and Nicholas Rezendes, Cara and Katie Sylvia, and Amanda and Lauren Costa; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Friday, Oct. 3 at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m.
