John J. O’Sullivan, 67, of Abington, formerly of Whitman, died, Friday September 26th in the South Shore Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Phyllis (Cox) O’Sullivan of Abington. John was born in Boston, son of the late Mortimer and Nora (Calnan) O’ Sullivan. He was brought up in Dorchester and attended Dorchester Schools. He was a resident of Whitman for 20 years before moving to Abington 16 years ago, he was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Whitman. John was a laborer for the Local Union #223 for 40 years. He enjoyed visiting Maine, and loved to go deep sea fishing out on the coast of Maine.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Kevin O’Sullivan of Easton, Michael O’Sullivan and his wife Kim of East Bridgewater, his daughter , Maureen Belli of Medford and his Step-daughter Kellee Duckworth and her husband of New Hampshire; also 6 grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Paul and Susan O’ Sullivan.
His funeral services will be held on Thursday October 2nd at 9:15AM, from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a 10:00AM mass in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Interment will follow in the St Patrick’s Cemetery, Rockland.
