Richard S. Danforth, 51, passed away at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston on September 27th, 2008. He was born in Everett on September 26th, 1957 to his parents Richard A. and Yvonne (Mercier) Danforth. Richard has been a life long resident of Malden. For more than 30 years, he worked as a Electromechanical Project Technician at the Plasma Science and Fusion Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. He was an avid golfer who played in several benefit tournaments every year. He is survived by his parents Richard A. and Yvonne (Mercier) Danforth of Mashpee; his siblings, Kenneth J. Danforth of Washington, D.C., Elaine Bullen and her husband William of Billerica, Steven Danforth and his wife Joan of Mashpee and Karen Barron and her husband Steven of Mashpee, and by his grandmother Edna M. Mercier of Everett. Richard is also survived by his nieces Katie, Lindsey and Erin and by his nephews Steven, Colin and Michael. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the A.J. Breslin & Son Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday October 2nd at 10 AM. Interment is private. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday October 1st from 4-8 PM.
