Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton . Obituary
Mr. Alves died Monday at the Brockton Hospital, following a period of failing health. Born in the Azores, son of the late Manuel and Herminia Alves. He made his home in Lagoa, St. Michael for many years, where he raised his family and worked as a pharmacist in the local Farmacia. Mr. Alves was also a nurse who made house calls thru out the community. He was a selectman in Lagoa. In 1969 he immigrated to the United States and settled in Brockton. He retired as a quality inspector at Arkles Corp. in Stoughton. His interests were his family and grandchildren. He loved and looked forward to his daily walks.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Isabel M. (Martins) Alves, 2 sons, Fernando and Victor Alves, a daughter Carmen Igreja, 5 grandchildren, 2 brothers Fernando Alves of Ponta Delgada, Azores and Aires Alves of Plymouth and many nieces and nephews.
Brother of the late Antonio and Manuel Alves, Maria da Luz Alves, Maria Luiza Vasconcelos and Cremilde Fonseca.
