New Bedford – Alice A. (Budd) Acucena, 89, of Acushnet died at The Oaks on September 25, 2008. She was the widow of Joao “John” M. Acucena.
Mrs. Acucena was born in Acushnet, daughter of the late James A. and Elizabeth (Hagelon) Budd, and was a lifelong resident of the town. She was a member of the Clifford Union Chapel. She was a member of the Acushnet Historical Society, enjoyed gardening and most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters: Elizabeth A. Sherwood of VT and Jane M. Amaral of RI; a son: David B. Acucena of Acushnet; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 11:00 A.M.
Interment in Long Plain Cemetery, Acushnet.
