Obituary

Glendon N. Emerson, 95, a life long resident of Hampstead, NH died Thursday, September 25, 2008 in the Fox Den Retirement Community, Sandown, NH. Mr. Emerson was born in Hampstead on November 12, 1912, a son of the late Albion and Mary (Calderwood) Emerson. Mr. Emerson was founder of the Emerson Mobile Home Park in Hampstead. He served for 48 years on various Hampstead Town Boards, including the budget committee, supervisor of the checklist, the conservation commission and 18 years on the school board. Mr. Emerson was a member of the NH Campground Owners Association, the NH Plant Growers Association and he enjoyed watching the Red Sox. He was known as "Grampy Glen" to family and friends.

He is survived by five children, Glenda Blomquist and her husband Robert of Baltimore, MD, Barbara McGrath and her husband David of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Richard Emerson and his wife Carole of Hampstead, Neil Emerson and his wife Sandra of Hampstead, Nancy Zwearcan and her husband Walter of Hampstead, a son-in-law, William Komenda of Sandown, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Grace May (Stevens) Emerson in 2006 and also by two brothers, Hollis and Roland Emerson.

There are no visiting hours. Following cremation a private graveside service will he held in the Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hampstead Rescue Squad, c/o Hampstead Fire Department, 17 Littles Lane, Hampstead NH 03841 or to the Rockingham VNA and Hospice, 137 Epping Road Exeter, NH 03833.
