Marie A. ( Akeke) Bevis of Bourne and formerly of Bridgewater passed away at Brockton Hospital on Sept 23 while surrounded by her family. She was age 77. Marie was born in Bridgewater and attended Bridgewater Academy. In her younger years she worked at the Bridgewater Town Hall and Bridgewater Credit Union. Marie retired in 1990 from Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School after over 20 years of employment as an administrative assistant. Marie enjoyed wintering in Jupiter FLA and was the past President of the Catholic Women's Club of Bridgewater. Daughter of the late Farris and Rose (Marzelli) Akeke. Loving wife of the late Edward J. Bevis. Loving mother of Christine M. Bevis of Wareham, Kenneth E. Bevis of Georgia, and David A. Bevis of Bridgewater. Proud grandmother of Melissa, Nicole, and Megan. Sister of the late Richard Farris. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Fri., Sept. 26 at the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home (Formerly Prophett's) 98 Beford St. (Rt. 18), Bridgewater. Visiting hours from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Thurs. Interment to be held at a later date.
