Obituary

Joan L. Fox, a long time resident of Marshfield and formerly of Northborough, died peacefully at home on Saturday, September 20, 2008. She was born in Worcester and was the daughter of Lumena and John H. Westling of Paxton.
Joan attended Worcester Public Schools, University of New Hampshire, and Clark Unversity. Joan worked for the Bolton Public Schools and Kingston Elementary School as a school psychologist and counselor. Joan was well respected for her dedication to children and their families. She taught numerous parenting and group seminars and touched many lives. After her retirement Joan turned to her love for antiques. She was well regarded for her keen eye and sense of decor as an antique dealer and gardener. Joan enjoyed celebrating the change of seasons on Littles Creek in the home she and her family created.
Joan was the widow of William M. Croft of Northborough. She is survived by her husband, C. James Fox and their eight children. Leslie Croft Burke and her husband Neil of Westborough, Sharon Croft Risley and her husband Frederick of Fairfield, CT, William Jeffrey Croft and his wife Carrie of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Julie Croft Myers and her husband Thomas of Jericho, VT, Sarah Fox Whalen and her husband Robert of Westerly RI, Louise K. Fox of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Anne Fox Lund and her husband David of Kirkland, WA and John F. Fox of Freeland, MD. Joan is survived by 15 grandchildren who love and admire their grandmother's enthusiam for life and wonderful gift for family gatherings.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 1:00 pm in the North Community Church, 69 Old Main Street, Marshfield Hills. A reception will follow the service.
