Obituary

WORCESTER____John V. Katinas, 95, formerly of Rutland died Friday Sept. 19, 2008 in Autumn Village, 25 Oriol Dr.

John was a former longtime employee of the Dept. of Public Works for the City of Worcester. John was also a World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran. John was predeceased by his wife, Frances H. (Katonis) Katinas in 1997. He was born in Worcester, son of Charles and Barbara Katinas.

John leaves three children, Frances B. Katinas of Worcester; Richard L. Katinas of Millbury and Cynthia S. Katinas of Rutland. He also leaves two grandsons, Dana J. Katinas and his wife Karen of Novi, Michigan and Christopher J. Katinas and his wife Jessica of Woodstock, Connecticut; five great-grandchildren Katelyn, Sarah and Allison Katinas of Novi, Michigan and Nicole and Nathan Katinas of Woodstock. Connecticut.

The family extends a special thanks of appreciation to the staff of Autumn Village Skilled Nursing & Rehab, Brookhaven Hospice and St. Patrick Church, Rutland.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday Sept. 23 with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Autumn Village Skilled Nursing & Rehab Activities Fund, 25 Oriol Drive, Worcester, Ma. 01605 or to St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. Patrick Church, 290 Main Street, Rutland, Ma. 01543.
