Obituary

Richard M. Thomas, 71, of Hooksett died September 19, 2008 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA following a long illness.
He was born in Rockport, MA on April 18, 1937 and was the son of Joseph and Ann (Toppan) Thomas. He was educated in Manchester schools and graduated from Pinkerton Academy in Derry.
He worked many years as an engineering technician for BAE Systems, formerly Lockheed Sanders.
Mr. Thomas was active with Troop 292 of the Boy Scouts of America in Hooksett for 10 years and had served as its treasurer and fundraiser. He was awarded the Bronze Pelican Medal in 1982 for his service to the organization.
He was a communicant of St. Peter Church in Auburn where he taught CCD. He was also a member of the League of a 1000 Men of the Precious Blood.
Mr. Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, fishing and making puzzles.
IN HIS LIFE: The family includes his wife of 48 years, Hilaise (Perron) Thomas of Hooksett; a daughter, Brenda Bowers and her husband, John of Pembroke; two sons, Michael Thomas and his wife, Kimberley of Lemoore CA and Brian Thomas of Chelsea MA; two step brothers, Robert Levesque of Maine and John Levesque of New York; seven grandchildren, Katherine Elliot, Bridget, Aiden, Fiona Thomas, Kristine, Alora and Emily Bowers; one great granddaughter, Naomi Bowers; a sister, Barbara Joyce of Londonderry and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his stepmother, Gladys Levesque and a step brother, Richard Levesque.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at St. Peter Church, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
