THORPE, FRANK P. Jr. – Of Malden, September 13, 2008. Son of the late Frank P. Thorpe, Sr. and Helen Fisher Sylvester Thorpe. Beloved father of Dana P. Thorpe, and Duane A. Thorpe, grandfather of Denise and David, and survived by many nieces and nephews, brother of the late Forrest Thorpe, Sr., Gertrude Stimson, Vivian Arrida, Elmer and Arthur Sylvester. He was a former Massachusetts State Police Detective Lieutenant and retired from active duty. His dedication to duty and tenacity earned him several department and inter-departmental commendations. While in service to the Commonwealth he was also a lead member of the SCUBA Team. Frank was a member of Northern University class of 1974 and a graduate of Jamaica Plain High class of 1953. He additionally served in the United States Army and was a Disabled Veteran. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury on Friday Sept. 19, 2008 at 8:45 am followed by a funeral mass in the Mission Church (themissionchurch.com), 1545 Tremont St., Roxbury at 10:00 am. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Avon Cemetery.
