Raised in Charlestown, she was a graduate of Charlestown High School-Class of 53. and later moved to Winthrop, where she resided for over 50 years, She was a graduate of Bunker Hill Community College. Past member of the Winthrop Emblem Club and Drill Team. Barbara was employed as a Director/Bureau Chief for the Massachusetts Dept. of Revenue Records Management until her retirement.
