Virginia Lee Beck Felton, 78, of Tifton died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church in Tifton. Dr. Bill Christman will officiate with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Felton was born on June 28, 1930 in Highpoint, North Carolina and was the daughter of Grady Lee Beck and Virgie Garrett Beck, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, James O. Felton, Jr. and one son, David Garrett Felton.
Mrs. Felton graduated in 1952 from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and became a school teacher and housewife in Lynch, Kentucky. In 1974, Mrs. Felton and her husband moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where she resided until 1999. After the death of her husband, she moved to Tifton, where she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Felton is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Lorie Felton of Tifton; her brother, Grady Garrett Beck of Wilmington, North Carolina; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy and Vic Crutsinger of Costa Mesa, California; and a granddaughter, Eve Felton.
