Obituary

TAUNTON - Grace (Drum) Fenton, 94, died Tuesday, Sept. 9th at Longmeadow Nursing Home after a short illness.

She was the wife of the late Attorney William J. Fenton.

She was a lifelong Taunton resident, daughter to the late James Drum and Elizabeth (Donaghy) Drum.

Grace was educated in Taunton and attended St. Mary's High School, then later Trinity College School of Music in London, England, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Music in 1940. She then continued her education at the Institute of Normal Methods in 1944, where she received her certificate in teaching.

In her career, she served as the Supervisor of Music in the Dennis-Yarmouth school district from 1946-1953; in 1953 she became the Assistant Music Supervisor for the Taunton school department until her retirement in 1960; and she continued to give private music lessons from her home for many years.

Also during her music career, Grace sang soprano in The Cecelia Society of Boston, which was directed by Arthur Fielder.

She was also a former member of the Taunton Park Commission, during the Benjamin Friedman administration in 1968.

She is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as her dear lifelong friend, Lillian Theroux.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Taunton, on Saturday, Sept. 13th at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton. Calling Hours are respectfully omitted.
