Florence S. (Sexton) Fernandes, 81, of Ocala, FL formerly of Westport passed away Friday, September 5, 2008 in FL. She was the wife of Louis R. Fernandes, they were married on September 20, 1947 and would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Richard E. and Ellen (Ridge) Sexton, she had lived in Westport since 1953 prior to moving to Ocala, FL in 1999. A Communicant and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport, she was also a member of the Our Lady of Grace Women’s Guild. She worked at Whites of Westport and Country Squire Barbershop, Westport. Mrs. Fernandes enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Including her husband, survivors include a daughter: Linda B. Gehlsen of Fall River; a son: Louis “Rick” Fernandes and his wife Darlene of Westport; a sister: Dora Davis of Uxbridge, MA; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Richard Sexton, Louise Bernier, Edna Crossly and Eunice Borden.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, September 11, 2008 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Wednesday 4 - 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
