Obituary

NASHUA, NH: Thomas E. Lacy, age 72, a resident of Nashua, NH for the past 6 years, formerly of Andover and Tewksbury, died Saturday, September 6, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua.
He was the loving husband of Eileen C. (Doyle) Lacy, with whom he celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on May 24th.
Born in Gorman, Texas on August 12, 1936, he was the son of the late Thomas Truett Lacy and Hattie Louise (Barry) Lacy.
Tom was raised and educated in Mathis Texas.
In 1956, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and dedicated twenty years to military service.
He served during Vietnam War, was awarded several decorations; Parachute Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Korea Defense Service Medal.
Following his honorable discharge on May 31, 1976, Tom entered civilian life and worked as a building contractor in the Tewksbury and Andover, MA area for 18 years.
Mr. Lacy resided in Tewksbury for 8 years and Andover for 22 years until moving to Nashua, NH in 2002.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Parish of Nashua. Mr. Lacy previously attended St. Augustine Church of Andover and St. William’s Church of Tewksbury.
Mr. Lacy enjoyed fishing, camping and wintering with his relatives in Texas.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Thomas E. Lacy, Jr. and his wife Roberta (Lyons) of Nashua, NH, Cheryl J. Batherwich and her husband Frank and Rhonda E. Sergi and her husband David all of Dracut; six grandchildren; Shannon E., Brittany R. and Thomas J. Lacy all of Nashua, NH, Erin C. Batherwich, David A. and Riley J. Sergi all of Dracut; one sister; Nora Louise Montgomery and her husband Joseph B.; uncle of Nancy K. Chase and JoBeth Nye all of Boerne, TX; his aunt; Bula Barry of George West TX; five cousins, Gaylon M. Barry, Bobby Barry, Sherry Degenhardt, James Ray Brown and Gaye MacMullen all of TX.
Mr. Lacy was the grandfather of the late Timothy J. Lacy.
Calling hours Thursday, Sept 11, from 4-9 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St. Tewksbury. Funeral Friday, Sept. 12th, at 7:30 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 9 a.m., at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 777 West Hollis Street, Nashua, NH. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Jimmy Fund (www.jimmyfund.org) or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) are suggested.
