Donald F. Johnson, Sr., of Somerville, died Monday at the Massachusetts General Hospital, after a period of declining health. He was 70.
Mr. Johnson was the son of the late James E. Sr. and the late Kathleen F. (Mac Donald) Johnson.
A lifelong Somerville resident, Mr. Johnson was a retired Union painter and also did private contract painting.
He was the husband of the late Catherine M. (O’Neil) Johnson.He is survived by daughters, Judith Shea of Medford and Kim Johnson of Somerville; and sons,Donald F. Johnson, Jr. of Medford, Daniel T. Johnson of Somerville, Robert Johnson of Everett, and Kevin Johnson of Medford.He leaves one sister: Grace Palumbo.He was the loving grandfather of 21 and great grandfather of 3.He was predeaceased by son, Paul Johnson; daughter, Susan Burns and brother, James E. Johnson, Jr.
Relatives and friends may visit, Thursday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.His funeral mass will be offered in St. Benedict Church, 21 Hathorne Street, Somerville, Friday at 11AM.Burial will follow Friday at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
