Obituary

Miss Mary V. Kiafas, 85, passed away Monday September 1 at her home on Cross St, Lowell.

She was born April 18, 1923 in Lowell, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Vasilios and Anastasia(Nikoyianis) Kiafas.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Lowell. She was a graduate of Lowell High School, Lowell Commercial College and furthered her education, graduating from the Burdette Business School.

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, other memberships included the Holy Trinity Church Choir, the Hellenic American School of Lowell Alumni, the Middlesex Women’s Club, the Hellenic Cultural Society, the Bartlett School Alumni, the Holy Trinity Philoptochos Society, the Salvation Army, and the Lowell Hellenic Heritage Society.

Mary worked as an executive secretary with Kidder Peabody now known as Paine Webber for thirty –five years. Most recently, prior to her retirement she was employed as an executive secretary for five years at the Lowell Historic Preservation Commission.

She is survived by six godchildren, and many friends, among them her close friends, Helen and George Bolianites.

Her funeral will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 3rd with services at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell at 11a.m. At her request there will be NO CALLING HOURS. Interment to follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Holy Trinity Church, Lewis St Lowell, Ma. 01854.
