Obituary

Mr. Hugh G. Faulkner of Medford and beloved husband of Eileen H. "Peggy" (Gummeson) Faulkner, died on August 31, 2008, after a lengthy illness. He died peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford.
Mr. Faulkner was born on July 20, 1929, in Medford, Massachusetts, the beloved son of the late Hugh G. and Minnie B. (Schnare) Faulkner. He was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1947 and was enlisted in the Army on March 26, 1951 at Boston. He received his honorable discharge at the Separation Center, Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, on February 28, 1957. While in the service, Mr. Faulkner earned the Rank of Sergeant and had been stationed at Orlando Air Force Base in Florida for most of his military career.
He had worked as an auto body repair man at Don's Auto Body in Malden for over 30 years and at New England Coffee for 23 years. He was a very active member of the First Community United Methodist Church in Medford and had served as the trustee Chairperson for more than eighteen years. He also was the chairperson for the fundraising efforts to rebuild the tower at the church.
Besides his beloved wife, Peggy, who he married on September 12, 1992, and enjoyed almost 16 years of marriage with, he will be very sorely missed by two daughters and one son-in-law; Donna J. Close of PA and Lori A. and her husband Gilbert Calhau of Medford one sister; Kathleen "Kay" Langley of Medford, his former wife; Betty Faulkner of Medford, step-children; Karen and her husband, George DiDomenico of Medford, Ken Fillebrown of Medford and Suzanne Fillebrown of Medford, Debi Morris of Woburn, Scott and his wife Kellie Fillebrown of Malden, Cheryl and her husband Shane Smith of Watkinsville, Georgia, 16 grandchildren; Chris, Melissa and Kelly Calhau, Timmy Close, Courteney DiDomenico, Danielle, David, Nicole and Rene Fillebrown, Meagan and Katelyn Morris, Amy Fillebrown and Blake, Shelby, Aiden and Chase Smith and 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was a proud, loving, un-selfish and kind man. He was devoted to his friends, family and his church, the First Community United Methodist Church on Otis Street in Medford. The church tower was recently dedicated in his name. He had a huge heart and will be missed deeply by everyone whose life he has touched.
His funeral service was celebrated in the First Community United Methodist Church, 55 Otis Street, Medford, Friday, September 5, 2008, 2008 at 10:00 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours Were held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Thursday, September 4, 2008, from 4 to 8 PM.
