J. T. Norman, Jr. of Bath, South Carolina, formerly of Tifton, entered into rest on Monday, September 1, 2008, at his home in South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Pastor Leonard Conger and Pastor Earl Carter will officiate with burial to follow in Lawrence Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 4, 2008, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Norman was born in Tifton and was the son of J. T. Norman, Sr. and Alberta Thrift Norman, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lanell Norman; two daughters, Betty Sue Tice and Joyce Simmons; one sister, Laverne Welch; and two brothers, Bill Norman and Edger Norman. He had been a resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was a self-employed landscape contractor, prior to making Aiken County, South Carolina his home in 1980. He retired from Gregg Division as a mixer after 11 years of service. Mr. Norman was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed working on small engines, fishing and camping. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Mr. Norman is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Evelyn C. Norman of Bath, South Carolina; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Vickie Norman of Augusta, and Dewayne and Deborah Norman of Bath, South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
