Obituary

Anthony G. “Tony” Karem passed away September 1, 2008. He was 85. He was the beloved husband of the late Veronica P. (McDermott) Karem. He was a life long resident of Dedham.

Born in Dedham, he the beloved son of the late George and Jennie (Ferris) Karem.

He was the late retired owner of the Oakdale Barber Shop for 26 years. He was a late member of the Candlepin Bowling Hall of Fame. He held the record for 14 weeks on Candlepin Bowling on Channel 5. He was also inducted into the Boston Park League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983. He was also a World War II veteran.

He was the devoted brother of James P. Karem and his wife Rita of Falmouth, Elizabeth A. Gruseck of Norwood and the late Sadie Raymond.

He was the loving uncle of Jean D’Attilio of Dedham, Carol Murzycki of Wrentham, Linda Killion of Franklin, and William Gruseck of Dedham. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham Thursday at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Anne’s Church, Readville at 9AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-8. Interment Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. Expressions of sympathy in Tony’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by the George F.
