Erris L. Paulk, 83, of Ocilla, died Sunday, August 31, 2008, at the Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at the Holt Baptist Church in Irwin County, with the Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in the Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Monday evening at the Paulk Funeral Home in Ocilla.
Mr. Paulk was born September 30, 1924 in Irwin County to the late Robert Lee and Georgia Henderson Paulk. He was a retired farmer and had lived all his life in Irwin County. He attended school in Irwin County and graduated from South Georgia College. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a U.S. Army Paratrooper. He was an active member, Sunday School Teacher and deacon emeritus of the Holt Baptist Church; where he was affectionately know as “Brother Grand Daddy”. He was former caretaker of Brushy Creek Cemetery and custodian for the Ocilla Baptist Church.
Mr. Paulk is survived by his wife of 58 years: Sara Grace Paulk of Ocilla; son and daughter-in-law Gene & Susan Paulk of Irwin County; daughters and sons-in-law Ginny & Waldo Paulk of Irwin County and Lisa & Mike Davis of Coffee County; Grand Children: Randi & Benji Giddens, Robin Hudson, Jenni Lynn Bryan, Michelle Daniel, Cindy & Darren Dunlap, Great Grand Children: Gracie Giddens, Andrew Daniel, and Tucker Daniel, Dalton Dunlap, Along with his parents Mr. Paulk was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Douglas Paulk and Lenox Eugene Paulk.
