Obituary

Petty Officer 3rd Class, Michael P. Avery, 22 years, of Brockton, died August 25, 2008, at the UCSD Medical Center, San Diego, CA, due to injuries sustained in an accident August 23, 2008. Michael was the son of Peter Avery of Randolph and Irma (Golding) (Avery) Monteiro of Brockton. He was raised and educated in Brockton and was a 2005 graduate of Brockton High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and had been stationed in San Diego, CA for the past three years. Before his death on Monday, over 100 of his fellow shipmates came to the hospital to say their final goodbyes and it was made clear to his family how loved he was by his friends and how much he will be missed. With his baby blue eyes and bright smile, Michael touched the lives of many. In turn, his family, friends and shipmates meant everything to him.

Michael is also survived by his devoted brother and sisters, Peter, Jr., Jenna and Alana, all of Brockton; his aunts and uncles Deborah and Joseph McMullen of Brockton, Maureen and Jim DiRenzo of E. Bridgewater, Elizabeth and Mark Shaw of Brockton, John and Diane Golding of Brockton, Joel and Gail Avery of Beverly and Mark and Celia Avery of El Paso, TX. He also leaves many cousins and his father’s companion, Irene Comis of Randolph. He was the grandson of the late Arthur and Helen Golding and Walter and Mary Avery.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton,Tuesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Christ The King Parish/ St. Colman Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 3-7pm.
