Dorothy M. (Butts) Jasperson, 83, a lifelong resident of Norton died on Wednesday August 20, 2008 surrounded by her loving family and friends at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Jasperson, Sr. who passed away on April 21, 2000. Mr. and Mrs. Jasperson were wed on November 5, 1976.
Born in Norton, MA on April 12, 1925 in the home her family resided at for over 300 years, she was a devoted daughter of the late Chester F. and Mary E. (Brady) Butts.
She grew up in Norton, attended Norton schools and was a graduate of Bristol County Business College in Taunton. Prior to retiring Dot had been employed as a Clerk at the former McNearney Insurance Co. in Taunton for over 10 years.
A lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, she was also a former member of the Catholic Women’s Club at St. Mary’s Church
Dot was a life member of the DAV Auxiliary at the Fillmore Nason VFW Post 8049 in Norton and was also a member of the Norton Senior Citizens. She loved her dogs, spending time with family and especially shopping at home on QVC.
She was the dear sister of the late Chester S. Butts, Clement W. Butts, Donald E. Butts, George Butts and Winifred Butts. She was the loving niece of the late Annie H. Brady who lived with the Butts family. She is survived by her sister in law Peggy Butts of Marion, several nieces and nephews including her special nephew Michael W. Butts of Taunton and special friends Mary Fontes and Donna Riva.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday August 23rd at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 133 South Worcester St. Norton. Burial will follow at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday August 22nd from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers Dot’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Journey for Sight care of the Norton Lions Club P.O. Box I Norton, MA 02766.
