Obituary

Herman Eston Yawn, 77, of Tifton died Sunday, August 17, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Dan Robinson, Rev. Steve Hand and Rev. Ronnie Howell will officiate with burial to follow in Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. James Akins, Robby Mullis, Chris Mullis, Zach Moore, Eric Mullis, and Bryan Mullis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill McCranie, Perry McCranie, Luther Black, Tom and Mildred Gregory, Doris Robinson, Dorise Yancy, Hilda and Cecil Davis, Kyle Mullis, Kevin Mullis, Bruce Hall, Michael Hand and Blake Hand. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Yawn was born on July 10, 1931 in Berrien County and was the son of James Lonnie Yawn and Elsie Mae Cannady Yawn, both deceased. He was a retired electrician and a member of Brookfield Methodist Church. He served in the the United States Army from 1954-1955 and had lived in Tifton since 1957.

Mr. Yawn is survived by his wife, Shelby Jane Hall Yawn of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Eston Yawn and his wife, Nicole, of Adel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bridgette Leslie Yawn Asmussen and her husband, Lon, of Tifton, and Lecial Loyette Yawn Beach and her husband, Phillips, of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Yawn Akins and her husband, Jimmy, of Enigma; and six grandchildren, Sam Beach, Rachel, Brea, Zoe and Molly Yawn, and Joseph Asmussen.
