Ruth (Barton) Ftorek, of Needham a devoted hockey mom and fan, died at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham on Sunday Aug 17, 2008. She was 84.
Born in Boston she graduated for Girls High. She worked during WW II as a draftsman at the Watertown Arsenal and volunteered with the USO where in 1942 she met her husband. An active member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Needham she had volunteered for the Christmas Bazaar decorating Christmas decorations. She was a great dancer and enjoyed singing, playing the piano and the cello.
She was the beloved wife for 61 years of Stephen J. Ftorek and the loving mother of Stephen J. Jr. and his wife Tessa of Robbinston ME, Robert B. “Robbie” and his wife Wendy of Wolfeboro NH and Jorie and her partner Patti of Binghamton NY. Sister of James Barton of Derry NH, Robert Barton of Needham and the late Richard Barton of Scituate. Devoted grandmother of Sam, Lucie, Casey, Anna, Julie, Sarah and Matthew and great grandmother of Ariana, Emma, Lily, Fynn and Cooper. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. NEEDHAM on Wed Aug 20 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Tues 4-8 PM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Needham.
