Robert M. Hartigan, 72, passed away at home in Medford on August 16th, 2008 after a long illness. He was born in Boston on April 12th, 1936. Robert has been a life long resident of Medford who also spent many years at his summer home in Gloucester. He is a graduate of Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Malden Catholic High School. For over 40 years, he worked as a salesman for the Arnold Bread Company. After his retirement, Robert went to work with his brother John at Exchange Brake Automotive Repair in Malden. He was an avid boater who spent much time on the water and enjoyed his membership at the Winter Hill Yacht Club in Somerville. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marie (Cascio) Hartigan; his children, Cynthia Hartigan of Medford, Paula Galdo and her husband Vincent of Frisco, Texas, Robert M. Hartigan Jr. of Melrose, Marie Dilger and her husband Erik of South Boston and Melissa Hartigan of Medford; his grandchildren, Nicole, Emma and Alexandra Galdo; and by his siblings, Nancy Johansen and her husband Robert of Nevada City, California and John Hartigan and his wife Theresa of Peabody. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his first wife Emma (DeRosa) Hartigan. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the A.J. Breslin & Son Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden at Medford line on Tuesday August 19th at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday August 18th from 4-8 PM. Interment is private.
