Obituary

LOWELL - Chester J. Kalish, 85, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Friday August 15th at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Eva A. (Breton) Kalish to whom he was married for 54 years.

He was born in Lowell on May 6, 1923, and was the son of the late John and Katharine (Twarog) Kalisz. He received his education in Lowell schools and graduated with honors from Lowell High School, class of 1943.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Kalish was employed for many years as a letter carrier by the United States Postal Service in Lowell.

In his free time he enjoyed watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox.

He was a member of St. Casimir Church in Lowell.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons Michael Kalisz and his wife Catherine of Belaire, MD, John Kalish of Bedford, NH, Chester Kalish Jr. and his wife Sherry of Merrimack, NH, and Brian Kalish of Lowell; six grandchildren Courtney Kalisz, Chase Kalisz, Connor Kalisz, and Cassidy Kalisz, all of Belaire, MD, Kevin Kalish of Boston, and Matthew Kalish of Marlboro; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Wanda Gallant.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Monday from 4 until 8 PM. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:30 AM followed by his Funeral Service at 12:30 PM at St. Casimir Church in Lowell. Interment in St. Casimir Cemetery in Pelham, NH.
