LYNN: Stephen R. Evans, 61, formerly of Gloucester, died unexpectedly at his residence on August 2, 2008.
Born in Gloucester on June 7, 1947, he was the son of Sophie (Aho) Evans of Gloucester and the late Herbert Evans. He attended Gloucester public schools.
Steve was a decorated Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart as well as a Bronze Service Star.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Geraldine Selig, his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Virginia Evans, a nephew, Glenn, husband of Karen Selig, and two nieces, Patricia Phelan and Robin, wife of Timothy Sova.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon in the Beechbrook Cemetery Veterans’ Lot, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
