John R. Owen, 68, of Kendall Pond Rd., Derry, NH died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. He was born in Lawrence, MA on October 16, 1934, a son of the late Francis L. and Susan B. (Fortin) Owen. He was a resident of Derry for the past six months, formerly living in Ft. Pierce, FL. Mr. Owen had attended Lawrence schools and entered the US Air Force at the age of 17. While in the military, he served in many countries and received numerous ribbons and medals for his service, retiring as a Tec Sergeant after serving 25 years. He was a life member of the VFW and was a member of Post #8349 in Methuen and Post #8058 in Ft. Pierce, FL. He had also been employed as a corrections officer for the Florida State Prison.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Mrs. David (Josephine) Mulchahey, three daughters, Mrs. David W. (Denise) Mulchahey, Mrs. Edmond (Shelley) Rocheleau, Mrs. Joseph (Kimberley) Bizeur, two sons, John C. (dear friend Cathy Boucher) Owen, Daniel C. (wife Jennifer) Owen, 13 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one aunt, Pauline Fortin, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28th at 10:00 at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry with cremation following. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 – 8. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the NH Veterans Home, PO Box 229, Tilton, NH 03276 and to pray for all our service personnel in harm’s way.
