Obituary

MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA: Gordon M. Elwell, 75, of Powder House Lane, died Friday, August 8, 2008 in the Massachusetts General Hospital following an extended illness. He was the husband of Doreen (Barlow) Elwell.
Born in Gloucester on May 22, 1933, he was the son of the late Gordon M. and Maybelle (Hodgkins) Elwell. He was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1951. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was honorably discharged in September of 1956.
Gordon owned and operated Tobin T.V. in Salem for over thirty years. He was a Past Master of the Manchester Lodge A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #113 of Manchester.
He enjoyed traveling and he and Doreen spent many happy summers in England.
In addition to his wife of fifty-one years, he is survived by his goddaughter, Lorraine Catino, his lifelong friend, George Parkhurst, and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister, Paige Llewellyn.
A Masonic funeral service was held on Monday at the Manchester Lodge A.F. & A.M. Interment will be held in England.
