Sylvia “Simmy” Engber of Revere and formerly of Chelsea died on August 5th at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was 79 years old.
Simmy was born in Chelsea and attended the Chelsea schools, graduating from Chelsea High School Class of 1946. She was retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Unemployment Office for which she served as Office Manager in the Chelsea, MA office. Simmy was an active member of the Temple Emmanuel Sisterhood in Chelsea as well a member of the Friends of S.P.C.A.
Simmy was the loving daughter of the late Michael Engber and Annie (Zeltzer). She was the dear aunt of Fred Engber and Louis Engber of Revere, Abraham “Mitzi’ Engber of Melrose, Marilyn Laurent of New Jersey, and Arnold Springer of Revere. She was the dear friend of Claire Cassin of Revere.
Graveside services were held at the Onikchty Society Cemetery, Route 99, Melrose, on Wednesday, August 6th at 12:00 Noon. Contributions in Simmy’s memory may be made to Temple Emmanuel,. 60 Tudor Street, Chelsea, MA 02150.
