Obituary

Augusta, GA---Mr. William Felton Thompson, 85, loving and devoted husband of 64 years, to Virginia “Peggy” Thompson went home to be with the Lord, on Monday, August 4, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Thompson had a four year battle with Parkinson’s disease and macular degeneration and although he could not see or walk, he never complained.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 11:00 am, at Lumpkin Road Baptist Church with Reverend Leonard Chavis officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Thompson was born to Willie D. and Julia Tyson Thompson in the Blundell Community, in Jefferson County, Georgia. He will be remembered, as a man who loved his family dearly, second only to the Lord. He personified the man spoken of in Psalm 1.

He retired after 45 years, as Vice-President of Credit Operations, from A. A. Friedman Company “Friedman Jewelers” and was chosen Man of the Year in 1986. Following his retirement, he worked part time, with his son at Windsor Jewelers. He was a member of Lumpkin Road Baptist Church and the Calvary Sunday School Class. He loved his Church family and always loved telling a joke before Sunday School class began, which was his nature as a true joke telling expert.

The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to his wonderful caregivers, Marie Ashley and Elizabeth Harmon and to Trinity Hospice, especially Amy, Lilly and Chaplain Wayne Bruner.
