AKAYDIN,
Ferdinande Maria Ketteler (Ferdi), 83,
passed away Thursday July 31, 2008 at Baptist Hospital East.
Ferdi was born in Kalkar, Germany April 29, 1925, the daughter of Heinrich and Wilhelmine Ketteler. She lost her two brothers, Heinz and Joseph, in WWII but is survived by her beloved sister Antonie (Strobel).
Accepting a Fulbright Scholarship, Ferdi came to the United States in 1953 and studied psychology. In 1957 she married Mehmet Saban Akaydin, M.D. who preceded her in death in 2000.
Ferdi was the beloved mother of, and is survived by, her two sons Mehmet Jr., and Ahmet, both of Louisville, and her daughter Susan Dailey of California. She is also survived and loved by her six grand children Kirk, Michael, Matthew, Christopher, Seth and Skye.
Family and friends will miss Ferdi greatly. There will be a private celebration of her life.
