WORCESTER - Russell R. Allen, 66, of 63 Illinois Street died Monday, March 24 at home after an illness.
He leaves wife of 6 years Sally F. (VanNess) Allen of Worcester; a daughter Sherrye Olney of Oxford; two step-sons Shane Sleight of Worcester and Paul Carter of Leicester; five step-daughters Marjorie Pattison of Lavonia, New York, Melody Bigwood of Oxford, Michele Sleight of Spencer, Meredith Carter of Leicester and Christine Sleight of Worcester; a brother Raymond Allain of Florida; a sister Regina Ouimette of Shrewsbury; 15 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers Robert Allen and Melvin Allen. He was born in Rumford, Maine son of Ernest J. and Edna R. (Richard) Allen.
Mr. Allen worked at Westboro State Hospital in the Housekeeping Department for 15 years and previously worked as a Machinist for 20 years at Worcester Controls Company. He graduated from Worcester Boy's Trade High School.
The funeral will be on Thursday, March 27 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond Street with a mass at 10 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 53 Illinois Street. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are on Wednesday, March 26 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be to a charity of the donors choice.
