Dartmouth–Maria (daSilva) Alvernaz, aged 90 yrs., passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. She was the wife of the late Luiz Alvernaz. She was the mother of Germana Lemos-Estrela and her husband José of New Bedford. She was the Grandmother of Eduardo Lemos husband of Arezou of Newton MA., and Daniel Lemos husband of Renee of Fairfield, CT. Mrs. Alvernaz was the Great-Grandmother of Layla, Mena, Johnny, Paulina and Daniel Jr. She was the sister of the late Antonio Goulart daSilva and is also survived by two nieces and two nephews.
Mrs. Alvernaz was the daughter of the late Maria and Antonio Goulart daSilva. She was born in Faial Açores and lived in this area for the last 45 years. Mrs. Alvernaz was employed as Packer at Paulding Electric Inc. of New Bedford.
Mrs. Alvernaz’s Funeral will be Thursday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., at 8 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday Evening from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
