Mary M.(Barry) Killoran, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Friday August 1, 2008 at her home in Charlestown after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 75 years old.
Mary was born in Boston on October 3, 1932. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1950. She worked for Lumbermens Insurance Company from 1952 to 1958. She was a teachers aid for many years at the Warren Prescott and Kent grade schools in Charlestown and also Charlestown High School. Mary had been working as a receptionist at the Charlestown Y.M.C.A. until her illness prevented her from working. She was a member of The Boston Teachers Association and The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.
Mary is the beloved wife of Wallace Killoran. She is the devoted mother of Eileen Vidal and her husband Gilbert of Nashua, N.H., William J. Killoran, John M. Killoran, Carmel T. Killoran, Daniel W. Killoran and his wife Andrea, Michael B. Killoran and his wife Kelly, Kevin P. Killoran all of Charlestown and the late Kathy Killoran. She is the loving grandmother of Maggie, John, Nicholas, Caitlyn, Will, Brigid, Mary and Patrick. She is the beloved sister of Gerald Barry of Philadelphia, Pa. and the late John and Mike Barry.
Mary's Funeral will be held on Wednesday August 6, 2008 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday August 5, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
