Basil E. Newcomb, 75, of Derry, NH, died Friday, August 1, 2008 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry. Mr. Newcomb was born in Derry on January 2, 1933, a son of the late Omer and Renza (Chaplin) Newcomb, and was a lifelong resident. He had been employed for Hadco Printed Circuits in Derry.
He is survived by one son, Basil Newcomb of Chester, NH; two daughters, Cherie Ross of Chester, and Barbara Gallachant of Derry; six grandchildren, James Gallachant and Thomas Gallachant both Derry, Timothy Newcomb, Laurie Chairenza, Tiffany Ross and Emily Ross all of Chester; one great granddaughter, Jenna Gallachant of Derry; two sisters, Beryl Miller of Derry, and Linda Phelps of Chester; one brother, Wayne Newcomb of Allenstown, NH; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Neil Newcomb.
Calling hours were held on Monday, August 4th from 5 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. The burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry.
