Obituary

KIEFER,
Walter Joseph, Sr., 72 of Louisville, was born July 23, 1936 to Raymond and Carrie Sutherland Kiefer. He graduated from Breckenridge County High School. He started out as a type setter at Schmutz Manufacturing Company working his way up to machinist then eventually to Sales Manager. His last job was at Integrity Health Care where his illness forced him to retire. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors immensely. He passed away at his home on August 1, 2008.
He was an advocate of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and was very faith and family driven. He was a devoted Catholic and a member of The Church of the Incarnation.
He is preceded into Heaven by his parents and his sister Faye Foster. He was met in Heaven by his wife of 51 years, Mary Sue Hinton Kiefer and his granddaughter, Amber Lynn Kiefer.
He is survived by his children, Sandy Jones (Dwayne), Walter Jay Kiefer, Jr. (Terri), John Kiefer (Kathy) and Susan Diane Leder (Eric); grandchildren, Corey and Ben Jones, Cody and Jeb Kiefer, Katie and Hunter Kiefer, Erica and Jacob Leder and Melissa Raley; his brother, Raymond Kiefer; his sisters, Laverne Ruth, Betty Willen (Joe) and his sister who was always there for him and his family, Mary Louise Snipp (Pat) and many nieces and nephews.
His service will be Monday 11am at Incarnation Catholic Church, 2229 Lower Hunters Trace, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens, West. Visitation will be Saturday 3pm-9pm and Sunday 11am-9pm at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
