Evelyn Mae (Gamble) Thomas, 85, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008. She was a member of Dixie Valley Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Thomas II; a son, John Paul Thomas; and her parents John and Ruth Gamble. She is survived by her children, Joseph “Skip” Thomas III, Joan Sweazy and Sandy Baker; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday at Dixie Valley Church of God, 4703 Quinn Drive. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Dixie Valley Church of God Youth Ministry.
