Robert F. McShane Sr. of Stoneham passed away on March 22, 2003 at Winchester Hospital. He was 78 years of age.
Born in Melrose, Mr. McShane was a longtime resident of Stoneham. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and a proud U.S. Veteran. He will be missed by all.
Mr. McShane was a longtime supervisor of Romicon Company and a dedicated machinist of 37 years at W.E. Arnold Company of Malden. During World War II, Mr. McShane proudly served our country as a Fireman First Class in the United States Navy where he was awarded distinguished medals such as the American Theatre Ribbon, the European Theatre Ribbon 4 stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. Robert was a lifelong member of Melrose V.F.W. and the Sons of Italy North Middlesex Lodge.
Mr. McShane was the beloved husband of Olga C. (Bianchi) McShane. He was the devoted father of Catherine Terranova, Robert McShane Jr. and Kevin McShane Sr. Robert was the cherished grandfather of Joseph Terranova, Michael Terranova, Janine Terranova, Kevin McShane Jr., Derek McShane, Rene McShane, Sara-Jane McShane and Matthew McShane. He was the great grandfather of Kevin McShane III and Tayla McShane. Robert was the dear brother of the late John McShane and William McShane Jr.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday March 26, 2003 at St. Patrick’s Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours Tuesday 4-8pm at the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM. Donations in memory of Robert may be made to the American Lung Association, 25 Spring St. Walpole MA 02081.
