Taunton: Mary Delvina “Del” (Larrabee) Amaral, a Taunton resident for over 26 years, and who had also been a resident of the Arbors of Taunton, died on Thursday, July 31,2008 at the Taunton Nursing Home, after a brief illness. She was 94 years of age.
She was the wife of the late Gilbert Amaral Sr.. Mary was born in Bangor, Me. on April 12, 1914 and was the daughter of the late Frank David Larrabee and Mary Viola (Cushing) Larrabee. Prior to her retirement, she worked part time at Foreman’s, also worked for Atlantic Optical in Providence, R.I., and Standard Coil in N. Dighton.
Prior to living in Taunton she lived in N. Dighton and Seekonk. Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton and belonged to the V.F.W.. She was also a member of the Tennant’s Assoc. at the School Street Apartments, where she lived at the time. Mary was well known for her sense of humor and wit. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and music.
She leaves 3 children; MaryAnn Valle of Taunton, Mrs. Dennis (Cindy) Anderson of Taunton, and Gilbert Amaral Jr. of Taunton. She is the loving sister of Charlene Groto of Taunton, and Dorothy Goff of Taunton; also sister of the late Lucille Kirouac, Bernice Grossman, and Geraldine Larrabee. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 11: am. at St. Mary’s Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be private for family members only, at her request. Cremation will follow the Mass.
