Gertrude A. Vermette, 98, of Cumberland, formerly of Division St., Manville, died Sunday at Mount Saint Rita Health Care Center in Cumberland. She was the wife of the late Euclid Vermette.
Born in Manville, she was a daughter of the late David and Jeannette (Faureau) Peloquin. She was raised in Manville, and resided in the Bristol and Swansea area for 30 years, before returning to Manville.
Mrs. Vermette was employed as a medical secretary in Providence for many years before retiring in 1960.
Gertrude was an avid gardener and seamstress and cherished spending time with her extended family.
She is survived by a sister, Cecile Gemme, of North Providence, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Theodore, Leon, and Rene Peloquin, and Beatrice Dame.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00 am in Mt. St. Rita Chapel in Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8 pm in the Menard Funeral Home, 71 Central St., Manville. Memorial donations may be made to Mt.
