Obituary

WORCESTER-Ethel “Efthimia” (Cimi) Kontaxis, of Worcester, passed away Monday, July 28th in St. Francis Home after a short illness. Her husband, Peter E. Kontaxis, died in 1984. She leaves a son, Teddy E. Kontaxis and his wife Maureen of Watertown; two daughters, Anna E. Kontaxis of Worcester and Angelina E. Contonio and her husband James of South Dennis; a sister, Alexandra Qirani of Greece; and several nephews and nieces.

She was born in Albania, the daughter of Spiro and Anna (Pappas) Cimi and moved here in 1935. Mrs. Kontaxis was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and needlework and was very proud that she became a United States citizen.

A calling hour will be Friday, August 1st from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, followed by a service at 10:00 A.M. in the Cathedral. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
