Obituary

Burton “Pop” Morovitz of Canton and St. Thomas Virgin Islands died on July 27, 2008. He was 85 years old.

Burton was the beloved husband of Pauline (Berkowitz) for 62 years. He was born in Boston and attended the Chelsea schools and High School before attending Boston University. He was the retired General Manager of Malden Taxi. Burton was active in the community, including being a member of both the Malden Chamber of Commerce and the Malden Lions Club. He was a member of Temple Beth Abraham in Canton as well as its Brotherhood, and a member of Congregation Tifereth Israel of Everett.

Burton was the devoted father of Frederick Morovitz and his wife Lydia, Martin Morovitz and his wife Nancy, Marcia Cornute and her husband Jerome, and the late Susan Ruben and her husband the late Dr. Jeffrey Ruben. Burton was the loving grandfather of Naomi and Miriam Cornute, Maretta Morovitz, and Jesse Ruben and his wife Degi. He was the loving great-grandfather of Jordan and Elana Ruben. Burton was the dear brother of Lester Morovitz and his wife Peggy.

Funeral services at the Torf Funeral Home Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. (Cary Sq.) on Monday, July 28th at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Rabbi Nehemia Polen PhD. will officiate. Memorial week will be held at his late residence. Donations in Burton’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s own choosing.
