Odum- Mrs. Mabell A. Owens, age 91, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at her residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. She was a native of Appling County living in Wayne County since 1931. She was retired from the Wayne County Board of Education and a member of the Odum Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Isham Owens and a daughter Maxine Withrow; daughter-in-law, Ona Mae Owens and a son-in-law, Charles Withrow.
Surviving is one daughter: Diane and husband Jack Solomon of Jesup; two sons: Roy and wife Pauline Owens of Odum and Tracy R. Owens Sr. of Jesup; three sisters: Mary Herndon of Odum, Maude Karaway of Rock Island, Illinois, and Melba Aldrich of Odum, ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a special friend Aretha Miles, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the James R. Gordon Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Lord and Reverend Bruce Parks officiating.
Interment will follow in the Odum City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Solomon, Mike Owens, Kyle Owens, Tracy Owens Jr., Marvin Owens, Bruce Withrow, Owen Withrow, Ward Withrow, Melanie Tillman, and Debra Maxwell.
