Nora Rachel Tucker, 89, of Irwin County died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and Rev. Greg Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Mystic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Tucker was born September 18, 1918 in Ben Hill County to the late Lewis Tillet and Annie Lee Carroll Stone. She was a homemaker and a member of Arbor Baptist Church. She had lived in the Ben Hill and Irwin County communities all of her life.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law: Juanita & Jack Woods of Tifton, Annie Faye Tunali of Atlanta, Nora J. & Cecil Cox and Rachel Dianne & Gene Brown, all of Fitzgerald; four sons and daughters-in-law: Roger L. & Joan Tucker and Stanley & Judy Tucker, all of Mystic, Billy Ray & Marilyn Tucker of Warner Robins, and James & Diane Tucker of Irwin County, two daughters-in-law: Margaret Tucker of Ocilla and Doris Smith of Augusta; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Mrs. F.O. “Judy” Stone of Fitzgerald and Mrs. C.L. “Daisy” Tucker of Waycross as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Lee Andrew Tucker; three sons: Russell Tucker, Ralph Tucker, and Frank T. “Smitty” Smith; one grandson: Thomas Smith; one great-grandchild: Bryan Tucker; three brothers and three sisters.
