Joseph T. “Peppy” Fiumara, of Medford, formerly Boston’s North End, died Thursday at Wingate of Reading. He was 93.
Peppy was born and raised in Boston’s North End, the son of the late John and the late Domenica (Freni) Fiumara. A Medford resident for over 60 years, Peppy was afruit broker and with his family operated Fiumara Bros. Fruit Co. on Cross St. in Boston. He was a dedicated husband and father who enjoyed the company of his family and friends.
He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Ruocco) with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. He was a dear father to Beverly Merritt and her husband Allen of Lynnfield, Joseph and his wife Gail of Tewksbury, Olivia Galgano and her husband Michael of New Jersey, and John and his wife Paula of Wakefield. He was the brother of the late Furtunato, Anthony, Peter, Jennie Polcari, and John. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, July 21, 2008 at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Raphael’s Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 11AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family on Monday, July 21, 2008 from 9 – 10:30 AM. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
