Afonso H. Oliveira, Age 60 of Somerset. Husband of Lucia (Agostinho) Oliveira & son of the late Jacinto and Ana (Andrade) De Oliveira. Passed away July 17, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving wife and children. Born in Santo Antonio, Alem Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a Somerset resident since 1966. He was a member of St. John of God Church and the Holy Ghost Society. Before retiring, he worked many years in landscaping and construction.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 children all of Somerset: James M. Oliveira, Christine Oliveira, and Kenneth Oliveira; 7 siblings: Jose De Oliveira and Francisco Oliveira both of Somerset, John Oliveira of Swansea, Antonio Oliveira of Fall River, Arnold Oliveira of Dighton, Dennis Oliveira of Assonet and Filomena De Oliveira of New Bedford; l Granddaughter: Skyla Oliveira & 42 nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Jacinto De Oliveira.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Saturday at 7:30 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. John of God Church at 8:30 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5-9 P.M.
