Obituary

Eugenia A. (Hanlon) Faherty, a 28 year resident of Melrose and formerly of South Boston, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose following an extended illness. She was 81 years old.

Eugenia was born in Boston on September 25, 1926. She grew up in South Boston where she attended Gate of Heaven Parochial School and graduated from Gate of Heaven High School. Eugenia was a homemaker while taking care of her husband and bringing up her 2 children. She was a Women's Guild member, a C.C.D. teacher and Eucharistic Minister all at Most Blessed Sacreament Church in Wakefield.

Eugenia is the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Faherty. She is the devoted mother of Robert E. Faherty and his wife Cheryl of Tewksbury and Elizabeth M. Faherty of Melrose. She is the loving Grandma to Lindsay and Keri Faherty. She is the beloved sister of the late Margaret Joy, Howard Hanlon and Mary Foley. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Eugenia's Funeral will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose, follwed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 20, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
